Background

Intersectin-2 (ITSN2) is an evolutionarily conserved scaffold protein that plays a role in endocytic internalization, regulation of the actin cytoskeleton, and epithelial morphogenesis. It is involved in the initiation stage of clathrin-mediated endocytosis and has been implicated in distinct pathologies. Alternative splicing generates several isoforms of ITSN2.
